Lots of both Hindi and Bengali. There are over 100 languages spoken regularly here.

I think it a shame if people don`t celebrate who they are. And they thing is, we are all capable of being more than one thing at the same time. If you can be a husband, father, banker, gardener, musician, curmudgeon and critic, why couldn`t someone else be culturally bound to both America and the Punjab? Why on earth should someone who can celebrate Thanksgiving also be able to celebrate Purim, or are they only allowed Christmas?

While I’m extolling Toronto, here’s a couple of other factoids. More than 1/3 of all Torontonians speak a language other than English in their home. Although Canada has a landmass larger than the U.S., half of all of Canada’s black people live in Toronto.

And best of all, an American travel book has described the basic characteristic of Torontonians as “tolerance.” And I think that`s a good thing!
